32/365- Cold as Ice

Backyard beauty, Marc Anthony, and a second snow day! woo hoo!
I'm not sure why, but I prefer my ice/snow pics in black and white. These weren't blue-ish except the one I left in color. Perhaps I just like the contrast.

25/365 - Peaceful

I had to get out to take some pictures today. I went to a park semi close to where I work. It was so peaceful and quiet. The snow was beautiful. You could see where birds and squirrels had run up and down by the trees. The sun was going down. It was just lovely.
I like the underexposure and contrast against the light hitting the lake. It feels kinda moody and yet inviting.

24/365- Icicles

I came home from work today to these beauties hanging off the carport. The first one is "ginormous" (this is less than 1/4th of it) and I don't think I've ever seen a crooked icicle like the 2nd.

11/365 - On Thin Ice

Snow day! That means a picture outing. I got all bundled up like a little kid and headed out.

Days like today remind me of my Grandpa. So I went to the cemetery where he is buried. This may sound weird, but I really like this cemetery. It is peaceful and beautiful. They have a pond with lots of ducks, geese, swans, and fish. It makes me happy knowing Grandpa has so much nature around him that he would have enjoyed.

I pulled up to the pond, a goose honked, and they came waddling up to me and the car. After I convinced the birds that I didn't have any bread, they went back to the pond and I started snapping away.

Only a small part of the pond wasn't frozen so the birds would walk out to it. I liked the idea of "walking on thin ice" (and it's not something round *he he*) so I took this shot. I think this little guy looks really cute with its one feather sticking up.

I have some trouble with getting the exposure and white balance correct in the snow. I've read a few articles about it and have tried the tips, but they still don't turn out quite right in camera. I had to do some editing and exposure adjustments on this shot. Oh well, guess I'll hope for more snow days so I can go practice. :)

9/365- Take a sip

If you know me, you know I always have a drink close by - water or diet coke/Pepsi. What can I say? I'm a thirsty girl.

This a cold glass of ginger ale. I like how the bubbles lined up on the straw and the reflections in them. The perspective is pretty cool. It almost feels like you could get sucked up the straw. I'm really happy with how this turned out.
