This is a Siku (in Aymara) or zampoña (in Spanish). It is a reed flute, similar to panpipes, from the Lake Titicaca region of Peru and Bolivia. I picked this one up in Cuzco.
My good friend Melissa, over at Apple of My Eye Photo, suggested that yesterday's photo reminded her of an Aztec instrument. So I dug around in my pile of instruments and pulled this out for today.
She is also to thank for the editing tip. She mentioned using duotones in Photoshop. I haven't used duotones before and don't own photoshop, but Picnik has this feature. I decided to give it a try. I think I like it. Might have to use it again. :)

ReplyDeleteOk I have to admit I don't understand a lot of what you guys talk about on your blogs...duotones? But I notice a recurring theme of circles and round things in your work. Things coming full circle for you, my friend?
ReplyDeleteHa- There ARE lots of round things. Didn't notice that before. Maybe things are coming around! Here's hoping.
