5/365-dizzy

I learned a lot trying to do this shot.
1. Spinning coins do not like it if you try to predict where they're going and will almost certainly change direction if they sense you are anticipating a shot.
2. Spinning coins do not like to be confined in an area. They will jump off the background or out of a tray/plate and shoot across the room like a speeding bullet to avoid being captured.
3. Spinning coins DO like to make you cuss. Finding the sweet spot between the focus, ISO, aperture, shutter and additional fill light is a pain in the hind quarters.
4. It helps if you research how others did this BEFORE shooting 250 frames and giving up.

There is a lot I would do differently now that I've done some looking on the internet. However I was really happy to get this shot.

Exposure 0.025 sec (1/40)
Aperture f/3.5
Focal Length 11.8 mm
ISO Speed 100
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash Off, Did not fire

Ha! This one looks like George has really long nose hairs. Too gross?

  1. Love the first shot-second shot is funny!
Looks like we were both frustrated yesterday!
I feel like I'm losing momentum because I'm stuck in the house. I need to shoot outdoors today.

  2. Is "spinning coin" my new nickname? Tricky shot for so soon in the new year.
