43/365- Part 2 Lovejoy Memorial

February is supposed to be the month of love. For one of my friends its not. It is, as she calls it, "deathuary". Several years ago her sister and brother-in-law died in a terrible car accident. A few years ago, her mother died, also in February. Her father passed this November.
This February, my friend lost two sisters in one week. On Monday, one sister was horrifically murdered. She was brutally stabbed to death then set on fire. Today was her memorial service and this morning another sister died. She had been battling cancer.
How much can one family be expected to endure?

  1. Well, guess I'm snapped out of feeling sorry for myself. My God...that is impossible for the mind to comprehend. How is she surviving and how can I help?

Pics are cool. Where are they? I like the one with the moon and my fav is the one of the horn blowing angel on it's own.

Seriously let me know how I can help that family.

  2. Thanks, Paige. I think right now, she is still in shock. She was laughing and cutting up at the funeral home, but I know her well enough to know that that is her coping/defense mechanism and gaurd. Right now, I don't think the family has processed it enough to know what they need. But, prayers, positive thoughts/energy, whatever good you can send into the universe, are very welcome. They have more food than they can eat and more flowers than they probably have room for, but there is a memorial fund set up if people want to help that way. I'm more worried about in the next few weeks and months when it starts to sink in and other people go on with their daily lives.

BTW - the photos were taken in Alton at the Lovejoy Monument.

  3. Wow. Poor girl! I can't believe that she has had to endure slam after slam like that. Sorry to hear about that :(

I do love your pictures- the lighting on these is spectacular- looks like it was around 9-10am? You got some great angles on the angels (ha ha) and some neat composition.

  4. Thanks, Melissa

I was actually shooting at 5:00-5:30pm. But you're right that is has more of a morning light look. I was so happy to be OUTSIDE taking pictures! :)
